Steven Meurrens

Larlee Rosenberg Barristers and Solicitors

Steven is a Vancouver based Canadian immigration lawyer who advises clients on all Canadian immigration and citizenship issues. He has significant experience representing corporate and individual clients in obtaining visas and permits for many business-related purposes, including, but not limited to, Labour Market Opinions, intracompany transfers, international trade agreements, speciality business visits, and transitioning from temporary to permanent resident under numerous federal economic streams. His corporate clients include businesses engaged in mining, telecommunications, construction, hospitality, and technology start-ups.

In addition to his business immigration practice, Steven has extensive experience in family-based immigration matters. He also has an active practice assisting people who have been denied entry to Canada and to those whom have had visa applications refused. He has appeared before the Immigration and Refugee Board and the Federal Court.

Steven is the Vice-President of the Canadian Bar Association of British Columbia’s Immigration Subsection. He is a published columnist, a regular panelist at immigration law conferences, and is the author of a very widely read blog on Canadian immigration law.

 Victor Ing

 Sas and Ing’s Immigration

Victor began practicing immigration law and working with Catherine at a national law firm in 2010. Victor advises clients on a broad range of immigration processes and applications, including permanent residency applications, study and work permit applications, spousal appeals and detention hearings. He has represented clients in Federal Court and at all levels of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, and has appeared in the BC Supreme Court as an expert witness in immigration law matters.

Victor is a frequent writer and presenter on immigration topics and has been a regular contributor to the South Asian Post, providing insight on current immigration trends and changes. He has served as Co-Secretary for the British Columbia Immigration Section of the Canadian Bar Association, with a mandate to foster continuing legal education for immigration practitioners and to facilitate dialogue between immigration lawyers and the government departments with whom they work to share information and expertise.

Victor was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and now resides in New Westminster with his wife, Julia. He is an avid sports fan and traveller, and has lived in Japan and Hong Kong during university student exchanges. Outside of work, Victor is active in his community, having volunteered with several organizations including SUCCESS, the Chinese Benevolent Association, and the South Granville Seniors Centre.

 

Alex Ning RCIC

Alex Ning was born in Hong Kong and came to Canada at age of 18. He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia’s Urban Land Economics Program and has been a British Columbia notary since 1983. He served on the Discipline and Complaints Committee of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver for three years, the City of Vancouver Family Court Committee (four years) and the city’s Youth Justice Committee (two years). He is a past Zone Chairman of Lions Club International and a past Vice Chair of the Discipline Council of the former regulator of immigration consultants.

As a BC notary he is involved in contracts, land transfers and mortgages, leases, wills and estates and gained extensive knowledge and experience in legal matters. He is also a Chartered Mediator and holds a Justice Institute of British Columbia Certificate in Conflict Resolution; he is a past director of the UBC Law Student Conflict Resolution Society and is a current mentor in the Court Mediation Practicum Program. He is on the British Columbia Mediators Roster for Supreme Court mediations and on the Provincial Court Civil Roster. He is a mediator for the Better Business Bureau of Greater Vancouver, Insurance Corporation of British Columbia and on the General Insurance Ombudservice Roster for Western Canada. Alex has also acted as arbitrator on commercial arbitrations involving business and lease disputes. He is accredited by the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia as a property valuator.

Alex is a graduate of the Seneca/UBC Certificate Program. Alex’s preferred immigration practice area has evolved from business immigration to tribunal advocacy, he has appeared before all the divisions of the IRB, and has represented clients in interviews and inquiries at both CIC/IRCC and CBSA.

 

Peter Larlee

Larlee Rosenberg Barristers and Solicitors

 Peter is the senior founding partner of Larlee Rosenberg, Barristers and Solicitors. Peter has practiced Canadian immigration law since 1986, and has developed a solid understanding or the Canadian immigration system, as well as the needs of his clients. Peter’s focus is on enforcement areas, dealing with Canada Border Services Agency and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada on behalf of clients. Peter regularly represents clients on appeal before the Immigration Appeal Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board and those who are subject to deportation or other enforcement proceedings, including loss of status for non-compliance with residency obligations.

Over the past 30 years, Peter has primarily represented private individuals, travelling extensively in his work to represent clients in Asia, United States, the Middle East and Africa. With his breadth of knowledge and experience, he also regularly represents investment managers, educational institutions, religious organizations, corporations, large and small businesses and professional governing bodies.

Catherine Sas QC

 Catherine has been providing a full range of immigration legal services for over 25 years and is recognized as a leading immigration practitioner by Lexpert and Best Lawyers in Canada. Catherine was voted Best Immigration Lawyer in the Georgia Straight’s “Best of Vancouver”. 

Catherine is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, American Bar Association, American Immigration Lawyers Association, and International Bar Association. Catherine is the past National Chair of the Immigration Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association and is presently the Co-Vice Chair of the Immigration and Citizenship Committee of the International Bar Association.
