Outline
1. Current privacy and regulatory frameworks. Federal Court guidelines for the use of AI and current trends of law firms.
2. CICC Code of Conduct - Obligation of Confidentiality
3. Federal: Artificial Intelligence and Data Act (proposed)
4. Chinook, ReportIn and other AI tools used by IRCC.
5. Common AI productivity tools (chatGPT, Perplexity, NotebookLM, DeepSeek), leading to a demo of a Study Plan using chatGPT Canvas including a short discussion of what to not enter in the prompt.
6. Legal Research using AI, such as ChatGPT, or NotebookLM. ----> CustomGPT's
7. Reasoning Models: Tree of Thought and Chain of Thought with CRS and PNP examples. Why the prompts and its answers should be a part of your standard operating procedure.
8. The use of PDF files in the Context Window, as well as using other forms of output, such as directly to a spreadsheet.
9. Discussion on where the tools are going and how fast.

Speaker/s:
Andy Chan is an RCIC with a technical background. He had worked in IT and finance related fields for many years. His focus is IRB cases, and is currently a Designated Representative.
With his free time, he volunteers at ISS of BC and at the Rainbow Refugee Coalition in Vancouver and, not surprisingly, is focused on the use of AI.
Daniel J Escott is a Research Fellow at the Artificial Intelligence Risk and Regulation Lab and the Access to Justice Centre for Excellence. He is also a Technology & Law Writer for Law360 Canada, and a consultant in Legal Technology and Artificial Intelligence. Daniel is currently pursuing an LLM at Osgoode Hall Law School, and holds a JD from the University of New Brunswick and a BBA from the Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Simran Kaur Saini is a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC) and Commissioner of Oaths with a strong background in business, technology, and quality assurance. Holding a B.E. and an MBA in Finance from S P Jain School of Global Management, she combines analytical skills with deep expertise in immigration policies and compliance.
With 20+ years of global experience in IT management, quality assurance, and process optimization, she has a strong understanding of enterprise systems and regulatory frameworks. Leveraging this expertise, she streamlines immigration case management, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
